Whether you’ve been up all night on a Netflix binge or dealing with a screaming child, we all get a lot less sleep that we need every so often.
This is fine if you’re spending the next day slobbing out at home in your pyjamas eating cornflakes, but if your alarm is set for 7am, you’re going to need to be clever with that makeup bag.
Here’s five quick makeup tricks to make you look like you’ve had some major snooze time.
Put nude eyeliner in your waterline
Instead of picking up your usual black liner for your signature smokey eye look, go for a nude flesh-toned one in the bottom waterline instead.
This will instantly brighten up your eyes and make them look larger (instead of the tiny slits they are, begging for sleep).
Highlight your inner corners
Take a powder highlighter that you would normally apply to your cheekbones and dab some with your finger into the inner corner of each eye.
The highlighter reflects light to open up the whole area and make you look wide awake.
Add a drop of liquid illuminator to your foundation
If you’ve had a bad night, add a drop of liquid illuminator to your foundation to disguise the sallowness of your skin and give you a glow.
You’ll look the picture of health – or at least less like death warmed up.
Use a pink concealer under your eyes
Most concealers are flesh-toned and, to keep things simple, we tend to stick to these.
Add some coloured concealers to your makeup bag, however, and you’ll open up a whole new world of skin transformation possibilities.
A salmon pink one will counteract your purple-toned eye bags and colour-correct the skin to give your eye area that well-rested look.
Wear blue mascara
If you don’t already own a blue mascara, you need one. It should be your go-to lash lengthener when you’ve had no sleep.
Blue pigment brightens the whites of the eyes to make them pop, and makes the colour of your irises more vibrant.
